If you haven't participated in the Bataan before, it is the annual commemoration of the Bataan Death March, held at White Sands Missile Range in NM.The route spans a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles and allows participants to either complete it in civilian attire and tennis shoes or opt for the more demanding option of wearing a complete military uniform with combat boots and carrying a 35lb rucksack. This course truly puts the physical and mental abilities of all participants to the test. I personally took part in it last year and felt strong until reaching mile 20, which seems to be a common struggle point for many. Finishing the race was an incredible accomplishment, made even more special by the presence of my five closest friends and coworkers.
